I am unable to set a background and logo for a category after you click upload and selct the image you want (By pressing incert into post) it then shows a blank box and does not set the image.
It seems to be due to a recent WP update, kindly try to press the link URL button before inserting the media as per the example below, it should fix it:

That is to do after clicking the "upload image" button, while selecting/uploading the image from the media library.

After i click "Insert into post" nothing happens...

Setting an image background for the Reviews category worked fine to me, Chrome/Win. What browser are you using?
1. In Posts > Categories > Reviews (for e.g.) click Upload Image button
2. Upload a new image or select one from Media Library
3. In the images options, under the Link URL input field press the File URL button, as per the screenshot previously posted.
4. Make sure the Full size option is checked
5. Click Insert into post button
Not sure what was the proboem, it worked for me, you can see I set a (random) bg image for the reviews category.

You may want to put a tip on that section so other people dont have the issue.
