Unfortunately Themeforest submission guidelines doesn't allow that, they don't want any placeholder when there is no featured image set. That is fairly easy to do but would require some custom coding and basic php skills though. I could help you on a freelance basis if you're interested.
Hi there - thanks for a fab theme. Is there a way to have a default featured post image if one does not exist?
