Generally speaking you need to set the front page to display latest posts, then drag the widgets into the 3 sidebars (HomePage Big, Medium, Small), preferably the ones whose name starts with the HP prefix, and/or carousels.
Then you can activate sliders and the vertical carousel in the Theme Options > SlidersĀ Tab, and feature some posts in them as described in the documentation.
If there's anything specific you see in the live demo and having difficulties to achieve please describe you problem and I'll be glad to help.
Hi there, now you just need to drag the desired widgets into the sidebars (preferably the ones starting with HP which are meant for that. I include a (very long :) png file with all demo's widget settings, hope that helps:

sorry I see the same ticket for 2 different themes (MightyMag / Powermag), I'm quite confused now :)
Are you trying to setup both themes or is this a mistake? I'll wait for a reply to this before going any further with other tickets.
Screenshots are fine, perhaps though is quicker if you provide admin access so I can set up a basic slider for you (?).
