apologies for the delay, I needed to dig into this a bit more. The function is a leftover of an older release, the condition though never returns \'true\' so it the code shouldn\'t (and never did until now) trigger any fatal error.
Honestly I don\'t understand how this is happening for you all of a sudden because of a theme switch, by the way it doesn\'t worth digging, please replace the file functions.php with the updated one attached. The change is already part of the next update.
I temporary switched my blog to another theme and then back to MightyMag, and now I get the following error:
FATAL ERROR: CALL TO UNDEFINED FUNCTION FIRST_POST_IMAGE() IN /HTDOCS/PUBLIC/WWW/WP/WP-CONTENT/THEMES/MIGHTYMAG/FUNCTIONS.PHP ON LINE 710
It looks there is no first_post_image() function anywhere in your code. But it is called at lines 710 and 711 of functions.php...

PS The good in finding bugs: it looks like I am doing some extensive test of your theme, anyway.
