Hi there,

the slider is not available when the homepage is set to display the regular blog roll, you'd need to use one of the widgetized homepage templates in order to enable the sliders as well.

Please have a look at the default docs > Creating the Homepage

After that, you can feature posts in sliders as described in the single post options section.
