1. There are not specific sizes, you can upload images and adjust them according to your needs. A site is unlikely to crash because of image sizes. Your header looks good to me though, you just might want to remove the top bar placed by wordpress.
3. Homepage slider posts have to be featured singularly in post options "Feature this posts in homepage Slider", not by categories. Achieving that would require some personal customizations.
4. That is not coming from MightyMag, probably some plugin. Please disable them and re-enable them one by to detect the cause of it.
5. Unfortunately this is not possible! The footer logo is taken for the sticky nav logo though.
6. This is a bit generic, you need bbPress plugin in order to setup forums, please have a look at their documentation. Also on MightyMag documentation there are some basic steps to get started.
