2.1 is a major update, it requires some testing prior declaring compatibility. As you say, it breaks the site at this time. Please revert back to the previous version and kindly wait for the new BP version to be officially supported in item's page description.
Can't tell right now as the update was just released, we just started to dig into this major update to understand why it breaks and figure out what fixes are needed. Thanks for your patience.
