2.1 is a major update with lots of modifications, it requires some testing prior declaring compatibility. As you say, it breaks the site at this time unfortunately. Please revert back to the previous version and kindly wait for the new BP version to be officially supported in item's page description.
I understand but these are two separated issues. The issue with 2.0.3 is specific to your usage (didn't have the time to figure out why), as I'm running the same version myself on the live demo and also other buyers are going smooth with that release.
With BP 2.1 some new functions and core changes have been introduced that are actually breaking the theme.

Oh BTW I just upgraded to the latest BuddyPress version. Did not check it with the previous one.... but in any case, am on WP4 so I need this one.

I have buddypress installed and I get that message on the groups page only --that is where all groups should be listed.
I checked on the sample page and it works there.
Had to update Buddypress to the latest version 2.0.3 as I am on WP4
I just upgraded to the latest buddypress release and site broke. I hope you are looking into it

Yes, well.... it did it b4 I even updated... that´s one of the reasons why I updated.

Yeah...I did.
Changed themes.
Reinstalled bbPress and now it´s working.
