What I'm saying is that if you switch to the Text tab, not the Visual tab, the text should appear. I also see you're using an old theme/VC composer version I recommend to update it as since 1.7.0 the Visual Composer is bundled as an external plugin.
Please have a read here, I probably misunderstood you're issue. I believe you updated to WP 3.9 and facing the same problem as these guys.
The whole folder inc/js_.composer content have been replaced with the plugin zip file, that's why it's getting bit confusing. All other files are listed in the changelog though.
