The menu items color is something different than the category color. Please read this FAQ or the default documentation, it should help.

1. Move to Appearance > Menus
2. Click on the menu item you want to change the color for
3. In the description field enter the hex code for the desired color
4. If you can't see the description field, enable it from the Screen Options at the top right
5. Save menu
