It's possible to have multiple homepages like I do in the live demo, although to have 2 homepages displaying different categories you would need to duplicate the file page-templates/homepage.php and modify it to show only one category. This would need some customizations I could help on a freelance basis.
Alternatively, if I well understood your intention, you can simply use category archive pages? It would show up like this.
