My website is having a lot of user-spam. I have tried many different plugins that don't work, and they only thing I can think of to do is ask you. Is there a way to add a Captcha to the custom Register button on the website?
On the live demo I'm using Spam Destroyer and BuddyPress Security Check which seem to do the job pretty good, unfortunately I don't know about other captcha plugins out there.
your activity stream doesn't look like that job is being done pretty good anymore. My site isn't live yet, so I don't have that problem yet. But shouldn't be Akismet a good way to get rid of spam?

Askimet could be a good solution too, never tested it myself extensively though.
