I am doing it on my localhost, development server. All your comments say post to this support. You know, the part about enabling your primary...the slider that slides.
It persists with and without owl carousel plugin which I installed and hard coded into header.php just so I could get something to work.
So If I understand correctly you want to use the built-in slider right? Settings I see in your screenshots should be fine, although I can't see if you set up a featured image for the post.
Without seeing I can only guess unfortunately, please make sure of the following:
I cannot get the slider to work. I checked all comments, tead all docs, and still nothing.

Without seeing I can only guess unfortunately, please make sure of the following:
1. Make sure you are using the Widgetized homepage setup. See http://mightymag.djwd.me/help/#getting_started_creating_the_homepage
2. Make sure you have a featured image set for each post (feature 3/4 posts, just in case)
3. Try to change the animation to "Fade"
If you're still having issues, a screenshot of the front-end would definitely help.
